As a middle school science teacher, I used storytelling to capture my students' imagination and interest in scientific concepts.

Years later as a professor of teacher education, I focused my research on the practical knowledge teachers construct and communicate through storytelling.

Now as a retired professor, I breathlessly record the adventures of my plucky heroine, Miriam bat Isaac, alchemist and amateur sleuth in first-century CE Roman Alexandria.
